Chalet Alpina breaks ground at Lift One in Aspen

The Lift One corridor redevelopment began a year ago with initial construction on infrastructure, followed by removal of the historic Lift 1A in July, both leading up to the groundbreaking of the residential portion of the project, Chalet Alpina, last week on September 3, 2026. The project looks to transform the west side of Aspen Mountain – an area void of any real investment since the 70s – to become its own base village. Complete with membership and residential opportunities of both fractional and full ownership, a luxury hotel, rooftop pool, dining, retail, underground parking, and of course a brand-new ski lift to be positioned 500 feet closer to town than the original lift, eliminating the incline on South Aspen Street for pedestrians.

The project will reposition and reopen the historic Skiers Chalet – one of the buildings becoming a new Aspen Snowsports History Museum operated by Aspen Historical Society, and the other will be a guest services office operated by Aspen Skiing Company. The Skiers Chalet Restaurant will also be getting an upgrade before reopening after 20 years.

The membership prospect will serve to close the gap between those wanting more than the public amenities without the commitment of residential ownership, affording luxury hospitality, wellness, culinary, and social amenities to experience more of what the neighborhood has to offer.

Chalet Alpina is comprised of 26 two-to-four-bedroom fractional residences and only 6 full-ownership, private mountain homes of four-to-five-bedrooms, all with once-in-a-lifetime ski-in/ski-out access and full reign to both the public and membership services.

The fractional residences start at under $3Million – a significant entry point, considering the lowest free market, 2-bedroom condo sale in Aspen in the last year traded for $1,850,000 in a building built in 1965, without a network of amenities and a ski lift at the back door.

The full ownership mountain homes will be priced more in the $10k per square foot range, around $35-$40Million, right in line with the sale prices of the two most recent 5-bedroom, single-family sales in the Central Core.

While the timeline to get in early is narrow, with expected delivery of Chalet Alpina now in 2030, feel free to reach out if you have any questions on the project in general or its fractional or full ownership opportunities and I can help navigate any real estate decisions before the structures are built and it’s no longer Aspen’s best kept secret.
