Hike in Aspen | Ute Trail to Ute Rock
Specs:
1.8miles | out-and-back | 1,085ft elev. gain | 1hr 40mins Avg. time to complete
How to get there:
Follow Ute Avenue to the parking lot across from the trail head.
What to Expect:
The trail isn’t too busy outside of peak summer season but remains littered with regulars year-round as the uphill doesn’t stop and you can’t beat the ROI on elevation gain and stunning views of the Valley and City of Aspen below you in exchange for an hour out of your day. You’ll climb up steep switchbacks with some loose rocks along the way, so make sure to wear shoes with some grip. You’ll come across a tree swing when you’ve reached the top and this is your que to (carefully) venture out to the rocks for a selfie/group photo with an epic background. If that wasn’t enough for you, you can continue up another 2 miles, venturing onto Aspen Mountain up to The Sundeck, to enjoy a celebratory mimosa or a refuel lunch, before walking back down the trail or hopping on the gondola (free for downhillers) to save your knees. Enjoy!
